San Isidro Elementary School celebrated the nationwide EDUCATION WEEK 2011

According to Alicia S. Bustos, et. al., Education is a social institution. It is a broad term that includes not only the effects of schooling, but also the more pervasive effects of childrearing practices, of parental life styles, home and family training, of television, magazines and other media of mass communication. It also encompasses the behavior, attitudes and values learned from friends, the church, political parties, social groups, and other work groups. It includes all the experiences from whom one learns and brings about changes in him.

San Isidro Elementary School, Buhangin, Davao City , celebrated the nationwide EDUCATION WEEK 2011 from December 5-9, 2011. Our principal Mrs. Emerita D. Mapula delivered her speech and once again reiterated the new policy of Department of Education regarding the “ Enhanced K to 12 Basic Education Program” means Kindergarten and 12 years of elementary and secondary education. There will be a standardized kindergarten curriculum and an enhanced basic education curriculum with the theme: “Raising the standards of Philippine educator preparing the youth for the future” .The long week celebration through the following activities is to recognize the talents and achievements of pupils and also the teachers. The events were, Grade 1-Math Quiz Bee, Grade 2 - Math Quiz Bee, Grade 3- Sentence Dictation, Grade 4- trivia( HEKASI) , Grade 5-Science Quiz Bee, Grade 6- Math Quiz Bee. The pupils who rank first, second and third place were given a certificates as an award.

On the last day of the celebration, the teachers had a "Team Building” and started with spiritual enhancement by Godofredo Pelinio and Juan Aunso, followed by one of the facilitators to discuss about team building. The most interesting part were the games played by the teachers in which everyone was a part of. The teachers had so much fun, big smiles were seen on their faces. During that day I can say that we, the teachers of San Isidro Elementary School built a team , with one vision, one mission, and one goal, for the good of our pupils, as well as for our professional growth and camaraderie.
